First Annual Ride to Remember

The first of an annual Ride to Remember bicycle ride event, created by the Triplett children to honor their parents & sponsored by the Bluffton Lions Foundation was held, Saturday, July 11, 2015. The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, Bluffton Family Recreation & CG Pro Bike cooperated with the sponsorship of the event.  The first year goal was to attract 100 plus participants…the goal was achieved with 101 registering. The event offered short bike routes for family interested in biking together all the way to a 100-mile route for experienced riders and ending at the Bluffton Buckeye Park. The ride is a fund-raiser for the development of a pathway system through and around the Village of Bluffton. The ride raised a net total of $1,812.77 for the  Bluffton pathway projects.

 

Bluffton Lions assisting with the Ride to Remember were Greg Denecker, Ted Cunningham , Dick Boehr, Ron Headings, Colleen Lazar, Bill Croft, Tom Edwards, Alan Yoder, Ed Yeager & Dick Ramseyer. In addition many members of the Triplett family were involved in the planning & execution of this very successful event.

48th Festival of Wheels Car Show

On Friday, June 19, 2015 in the downtown Central Business District the Bluffton Lions held the 48th Festival of Wheels Cruise-In. This year 136 cars, trucks, tractors & golf carts registered for the event…this year uncertain weather conditions effected number of registered vehicle, however visitors viewing the cars packed the streets as in the past. Dennis Morrison, Chair of the event did a marvelous job of putting on a first class event…Thanks Dennisalt

Dare To Dream Fundraiser

The Bluffton Lions Foundation hosted, on Wednesday evening November 5, 2014, 
the Dare to Dream Wine Tasting & Auction social at the Sycamore Lake Winery…
the enjoyable event featured lots of socializing, free appetizers, music, three samples 
of wine, silent & live auctions, 50/50 and ipad drawings… proceeds were used to 
support the Bluffton Bike & Pedestrian Pathway Project. 144 individuals purchase 
tickets for the event which raised over $13,000 for the Pathway project.

Handlebars Bike Club

Hancock Handlebars Bike Club Visits Bluffton

The Hancock Handlebars Bike Club’s 44 annual Horizontal Hundred ride stopped in Bluffton Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 10AM  to  4PM . This is the 4th year the Bluffton Lions have co-hosted the 75 mile rest stop with the Handlebars Bike club in the alley next to the Presbyterian church. This year around 500 bicyclists made a pit stop in Bluffton. The event had rides of 20, 32, 62 and 100 miles…with Bluffton on the 100 mile leg of the event. Dick Ramseyer, President of the Bluffton Lions Foundation said in talking with bikers, that many stated, Bluffton is their favorite place to stop on the ride. With the developing Bluffton Bike & Pedestrian pathway system, events like Horizontal Hundred bike ride allow bicyclists to view our very progressive & beautiful community from a variety scenic location.

Groundbreaking of Bike Pathway

The groundbreaking today is for the extension of the Bluffton Bike & Pedestrian pathway system  from its eastern terminus 
at Cobb Lake to Bluffton’s Commerce Lane business District near the I-75 interchange. Speaking during the ceremony was
Mayor Augsburger, Dick Ramseyer and Katherine Kreuchauf…following their comments the excavator with Lion Don Snyder
at the controls broke ground with the first shovel of Dirt.  Lion Don Snyder, Owner of Don Snyder Excavating LLC is the General 
Contractor for the project.
