Bluffton Running, Walking & Biking Pathway Projects

Bluffton Comprehensive Bike & Pedestrian Master Pathway Plan

…more pathways to come

The Master plan developed in 2009 through joint funding of the Bluffton Lions and the Village of Bluffton produced the guide for future pathway development…it lays out the Vision and long range planning process to guide engineering and building of the Bike-Ped Paths. The Master Plan will help seek funding from various sources; but it is clear that local funds will be the backbone of completing the Bluffton Bike & Pedestrian Pathways. The Bluffton Pathway Board & the Bluffton Lions will continue providing leadership & encouragement for Bluffton Pathway development.

SUPPORT TO BLUFFTON LIONS FOUNDAITON ALLOWS FOR CONTINUED PROJECT WORK:

Bluffton Pathway project constructed in 2014

The Lions Way project…Extending the COB Lake Triplett Pathway to the Route 103 business at the intersection of State Route 103 & I-75. The beautiful tree-lined three quarter mile paved Lions Way was opened and dedicated in the fall of 2014.

Bluffton Pathway project constructed in 2015

The Lions Way Trailhead Park… The park is constructed off Commerce Lane on a 225 by 60 foot green space bordering the pathway. Phase one includes placement of a steel picnic shelter, concrete pad, picnic tables, water hydrant, bike racks & landscaping. Future phases will include rest rooms, park benches, playground equipment & vehicle parking. The Lions Way Trailhead Park will be open September 2015.

Bluffton Pathway project to be constructed in 2016

The Augsburger Road Pathway…. The pathway will run along the Bluffton University soccer practice field, then into the Nature Preserve woods, exiting near the Preserve driveway, follow along Augsburger past River Bend subdivision and finally arrive at Maple Crest. July 2016 construction will begin with the pathway scheduled to be open by year end.

Bluffton Pathway projects in the future

Safety is very important for travelers along Bentley Road between Columbus Grove Road and Augsburger road. This stretch of relatively narrow road is often shared by runners, walkers, bikers and motorized vehicles; no sidewalk or pathway is available. One idea under review is the construction of a pathway along Bentley Road connecting Augsburger Road and Motter Park; from Motter Park the path could cross the creek and continue to Main Street close to the Dairy Freeze. Finally, as envisioned in the Master Plan, the path would make its way to and along Riley Creek connecting with the Triplett pathway that goes to Village Park.

Bluffton is a destination for travelers and people seeking residence in a vibrant, safe and healthy community.

Run-ability, Walk-ability and bike-ability are very strong components of that community that we Blufftonites ultimately build with our hands, hearts and pocketbooks.
